Health workers will get the COVID-19 vaccine before others

With the coronavirus pandemic spreading like wildfire, people around the world are looking forward to the vaccine that will help in controlling the spread. In Mumbai too, the Municipal Administration is preparing for the distribution of Corona vaccine. The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has informed that this vaccine will be given to the health workers in the first phase.

To administer the vaccine, health camps will be organized with information about each department and arrangements will then be made to vaccinate the employees in the health department. The municipality has also said that it will seek the help of private hospitals and health centres to spread the vaccine to the people.


Government employees, nurses, doctors, ward boys, technicians, health workers, cleaners and other employees that have been on the frontline in the fight for coronavirus will get the vaccine first.

There are vaccines in various stages of production.  In India, there are two vaccines that are in focus, one is in Phase-II trials and one (the Oxford University one) in Phase-III. The Oxford University vaccine has also been administered to 163 volunteers in KEM and Nair hospital so far.

Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 706 fresh cases of the coronavirus, the lowest daily count in more than two months, taking the COVID-19 tally to 2,59,114 on Monday, November 2. This was the lowest daily COVID-19 count in nearly 70 days. Earlier on August 25, the city had reported 587 cases. On the other hand, according to the data shared by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the death toll in the city reached 10,305 with 30 fresh fatalities reported in the past 24 hours.
