During the coronavirus pandemic, people believe that Mumbaikars faced issues while accessing healthcare facilities. Recently, MP Gopal Shetty appealed to the Maharashtra government as well as the union to offer health insurance worth INR 5 lakhs to those residents of Mumbai who reside in a 300 square feet area or less. Shetty's comments came during the inauguration of the sixth hospital in the Apex Group of Hospitals at Akurli Road, Kandivali (East).

Apex Hospital Group started a hospital at Chandavarkar Road, Borivali West 16 years ago and today the total number of hospitals in the group has increased to 6 in the next 10 years, five more hospitals will be started soon. Inaugurating the hospital at Akurli Road, Kandivali, Shetty said, "The opening of the hospital will benefit Jogeshwari, Malad as well as the people from Kandivali. I would like to appeal to Dr Vrajesh Shah to create affordable facilities for the poor patients in the Kandivali hospital and also to implement the health schemes of the Central Government and Maharashtra Government here so that the patients will have access to treatment here. "

Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration, the Director of Apex Group of Hospital, Dr Vrajesh Shah said, "In this facility, the information of the patients in the intensive care unit will be on the doctor's mobile so the doctors will be updated 24 hours a day. The hospital has a capacity of 50 beds. The hospital, with its experienced doctors and nurses, will be open to patients 24 hours a day, with Cath Lab and two operating theatres, a ten-bed intensive care unit, dialysis centre, ear, nose and throat department, state-of-the-art ophthalmology, state-of-the-art laboratory, laparoscopy department and outpatient department. The obstetrics and gynaecology department also has a system in place. The hospital will examine patients for ENT, urology, neurology, skin and other ailments."
