The Health Minister of Maharashtra, Rajesh Tope, asserting the people of the state has said that the COVID-19 curve is stabilizing in Maharashtra as of now.

Tope further added that in the first six days of the month October, Maharashtra has clocked 82,619 fresh cases of the coronavirus down from 1,14,360 cases during the corresponding period in September. Post the relaxations of the lockdown norms along with the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, Maharashtra witnessed a surge in cases of coronavirus. However, over the past nine days, the state has recorded a lower number of cases.

With regards to testing for COVID-19, the state has witnessed a dip in the period between September 28 and October 5 compared to its previous week between September 20 and September 27. Tope, speaking about the same, stated that though the average testing has seen a dip, the positivity rate has remained around the same.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, Maharashtra recorded 10,244 fresh cases of the coronavirus taking the state's COVID-19 tally to 14,53,653. Currently, there are 2,52,277 active cases in the state. With 12,982 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 11,62,585.

On the other hand, in Mumbai, there are 649 active containment zones currently whereas 10,106 buildings have been sealed. In the last 24 hours, 18,334 high-risk contacts have been traced. At present, 1,560 high-risk contacts are admitted to the COVID-19 Care Centres. The patient doubling rate in the city is 67 days. However, the recovery rate of the Mumbai district remains constant at 83 per cent.
