Parkinson's disease is commonly seen in senior citizens. If this disease is diagnosed in time, it becomes possible to reduce its effects by starting proper treatment. On this background, IIT Mumbai has developed a special technology called 'Scan' to diagnose Parkinson's at the earliest.

Parkinson's disease is related to the brain, where it loses control of the brain over the body. This disease is likely to occur due to the destruction of neuronal cells in the human brain. However, due to the 'scan' technology developed by IIT Mumbai, it will help to diagnose Parkinson's at the early stage. In collaboration with KEM hospital, IIT Mumbai has developed the technology 'Scan'. The head of the research unit and professor of the Department of Biosciences and Engineering Sameer Maji said that this technology has been proven to be 95% accurate in diagnosing Parkinson's disease.

On January 9, this technology was inaugurated at IIT Mumbai. Efforts will be made by Sunita Sanghi Centre For Aging And Neurodegenerative Diseases to make this technology available to the market.

Prof. Subhashis Chaudhuri, Director, IIT Mumbai believes ‘Scan’ technology will bring relief for citizens who are suffering from Parkinson’s disease.
