On Sunday, January 2, the tally of Omicron cases in Maharashtra surpassed the 500 threshold with an additional 50 cases, reports stated. Till now, the state has registered 510 confirmed cases of the highly transmissible variant of COVID-19

From the new cases reported, thirty-six were from Pune, 8 from Pimpri-Chinchwad, 2 from Pune rural, 2 from Sangli, 1 from Thane and 1 from Mumbai. From the aggregate number of 510, the foremost have been reported from Mumbai at 328. This is trailed by Pune at 110 cases. 

According to reports, civic officials have elaborated on how the Mumbai numbers entail 76 individuals who landed at the international airport and were consequently found positive. Officials from the state have further elucidated on how from the aggregate Omicron cases, 193 have been discharged. 

On the other hand, in Mumbai, civic officials have been reported to have stated that from the 130 international travellers, 128 have been discharged till now. The remaining in the hospital, who are recovering don't have severe disease. 

Similarly, based on accounts, so far, Navi Mumbai has 10 Omicron cases that authorities believe they spotted through the community spread of the transmissible variant.

They remarked on how recently 6 individuals tested positive for Omicron without travel history that signified community transmission. Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) officials claim that all of their 10 cases are asymptomatic.
