Coronavirus cases in the state have been increasing significantly, and the Maharashtra government has been trying to resolve issues, despite the harsh comments from the opposition party. As per updates, Remedesivir injection has been permitted as a medication for COVID patients, by the government.

Addressing the same, Joint Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, JB Mantri, has directed the concerned authorities to take strict precautionary measures to curb the black market of Remedesivir Injection and make it easily available to the needy, as and when required. Currently, the state has sufficient stock of this medicine and officials have ensured that there will be no shortage in the future.

The Department of Food and Drug Administration controls the sale, distribution and stocks of these drugs. Information on the availability, use and balance of Remedesivir Injection is available in each district and is being monitored by the administration. Distribution of this medicine is allowed only to hospitals and institutions.

However, the illegal sales of the same in the black market has raised concerns. With an aim to solve the same, the administration has taken action in some cases of confiscation. Raids have been conducted and crimes have been registered against those involved in the illegal business. Moreover, the concerned department has informed the police about the accused and they have been arrested.

To strengthen the process further, the administration has also set up a 24X7 control room at the FDA headquarters, and one can contact the same on 022-26592364 or use the toll-free number 1800 222 365.

The Joint Commissioner, through a letter, has informed that if any patient is not getting Remedesivir injection or if the drug is being blackmailed, they can contact the concerned FDA Office or the control room number to seek help in getting the drug. Upon receiving a complaint regarding any black market activity, officials will take immediate and appropriate action regarding the matter.
