According to reports, the Maharashtra government intends to tweak its vaccination plan to multiply the number of beneficiaries it inoculates for the coronavirus each day.

Speaking about the same, Dr Pradeep Vyas, additional chief secretary in the public health department, wrote to all districts that the state plans to increase the number of daily vaccination sessions to nearly 8,500 from an average of 3,000-4,000 at present.

Moreover, officials have also informed the municipalities to conduct three vaccination sessions per urban primary health centre (UPHC) a day and five sessions per urban community health centre (UCHC) a day, wherever these facilities are available.

Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has urged hospitals and corporates to donate vaccines for the coronavirus for the poorer section of the population. According to reports, the city has administered at least one dose to 77 per cent of the adult population. Earlier on Monday, September 30, BMC Commissioner IS Chahal had asked private hospitals to find donors who can sponsor doses lying unused at these hospitals. Moreover, he added that this help the corporation cover the remaining 23 per cent population with at least one dose at the earliest.
