Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope has recently stated that the COVID-19 positivity rate is high in Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and Pune districts due to which efforts are being made to increase the vaccination rate for the coronavirus in all four districts.

There are 18 districts across the country where new cases of coronavirus are on the rise. Of these, 10 districts are in Kerala alone. This includes three districts in Maharashtra, the central government has recently informed.

The Health Minister further added that the spike in COVID-19 cases in these districts was higher than in the rest of the state. Speaking about the same he said, "The health department is focusing on tracking, testing and treatment of patients. Nodal officers have been asked to expedite COVID-19 vaccination. We are pushing for uninterrupted vaccine supply from the central government," he said.

Moreover, in order to prevent the COVID-19 disease, strict vigilance must be maintained in order to safeguard oneself. Speaking about vaccines, Tope further added that the Central Government is being pursued to supply COVID-19 vaccines uninterrupted.

Furthermore, as Maharashtra detects its first case of the Zika Virus, Tope informed that a three-member team from the central government has come to inspect the patient in Purandar taluka of Pune district. Moreover, emphasis is being laid on eradicating mosquito breeding grounds in the area and treating the symptoms accordingly. The disease is not contagious and measures are being taken by the health system to prevent it.
