Due to continuous rains since the beginning of July, the incidence of epidemic diseases is increasing rapidly in the state. In the last 15 days, there has been a huge increase in the number of dengue and patients with winter borne infections. In a week, the number of patients of both these diseases has more than doubled. In 15 days, 725 cases of winter fever and 528 cases of dengue were found in the state. It has been observed that there is a higher increase in the number of patients in cities.

In the 15 days from July 7 to July 21, maximum 357 cases of winter fever have been found in Mumbai, while in rural areas, 267 cases have been found in Gadchiroli district. Also maximum 264 cases of dengue have been detected in Mumbai, while maximum 29 cases have been detected in Palghar district in rural areas.


Chikungunya fever

The number of chikungunya patients has been increasing in the state for the past few days along with winter fever and dengue. In the state 28 cases of chikungunya were detected from July 7 to 21. Also, 16 patients have been found from July 7 to 14, and 12 from July 15 to 21.
