Many couples are deprived of the joy of becoming mothers and fathers due to infertility. Keeping this matter in mind, the state government has decided to start Infertility Treatment Center (IVF) in the government medical colleges of the state. Accordingly, the government has invited proposals for starting IVF centres from medical colleges in the state. Once the proposal is approved, the process of setting up IVF centres in medical colleges is likely to speed up.


Couples who are unable to become parents even after years of marriage, resort to various options to have a baby. Despite this effort, they are disappointed as they do not have a child. IVF centres are a boon for such couples. However, the cost of treatment and medicines in IVF centres is beyond the reach of common people. Although IVF centres are a boon for infertile couples, their costs are unaffordable for common citizens. Therefore, to make this treatment that overcomes infertility within the reach of common people, government offices in Akola, Ambajogai, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Chandrapur, Dhule, Gondia, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Latur, Miraj, Mumbai, Nagpur, Nanded, Pune, Solapur, Yavatmal in the state. The government is planning to start IVF centres in medical colleges.

The Department of Medical Education has invited proposals from medical colleges regarding the cost, available space, and required manpower for starting an IVF centre. Sources also informed that it has received a positive response at the ministry level as well. Therefore, a decision is likely to be taken on the proposal sent by the medical colleges in the next few days. If approved, the proposal will pave the way for setting up IVF centres in around 17 medical colleges in the state. In these IVF centres, patients will be treated for free or at a modest cost.
