Maharashtra registers 2,673 new COVID-19 cases; 30 deaths on February 7

On Sunday, February 7, Maharashtra recorded 2,673 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,44,071. Currently, there are 35,948 active cases in the state. With 1,622 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,55,548.

More than 30 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,310. While 1,72,311 persons are under home quarantine, 1,979 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.67 per cent, and 2.51 per cent respectively.

Mumbai reported 448 new COVID-19 cases, 711 recoveries and four deaths on Sunday, February 7, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,11,874. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 5,441 active cases and 2,94,128 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,390 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 94 per cent. At present 29,10,618 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 158 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 1,869 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Meanwhile, India reported 11,831 new cases, 11,904 recoveries and 84 deaths taking the tally up to 1,08,38,194 on Sunday, February 7. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,05,34,505 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,55,080 in the country. At present, there are 1,48,609 active cases. According to the ICMR, 20,19,00,614 samples have been tested up to February 7. So far, 58,12,362 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
