Mahim, Dharavi and Dadar witnesses surge in new COVID-19 cases

With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing across Mumbai, 66 new COVID-19 cases were found in Dharavi, Mahim and Dadar taking the caseload up to 14,681.

As the numbers of cases are on a rise in the city and state, there has been an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the G-North ward which includes Dharavi, Mahim and Dadar.

On Sunday, March 14 Mahim reported 29 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 5,183. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in total 4,769 people have made a complete recovery and have been discharged. At present, there are 260 active COVID-19 cases in Mahim. On the other hand, Dadar reported 19 new COVID-19 cases taking the tally up to 5,254. While 4,894 people have completely recovered. At present, there are 194 active COVID-19 cases in Dadar.

Mumbai’s largest slum colony Dharavi reported 18 new cases of COVID-19 taking the tally up to 4,244. While in total 3,803 people have recovered from the disease. At present, Dharavi has 125 active COVID-19 cases.

In January, Dharavi, Mahim and Dadar had reported ‘zero’ COVID-19 cases. Thereafter till February 2, Dharavi reported single-digit numbers.

As per BMC data, in total 66 new COVID-19 cases were reported from the G-North ward which propelled the tally in this ward to 14,681. As many as 13,466 people have been completely recovered and discharged from the hospital. There are 579 active cases in the G-North ward.

Mumbai reported 1,962 new COVID-19 cases, 1,259 recoveries and seven deaths on Sunday, March 14, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,43,947. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 13,940 active cases and 3,17,579 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,531 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 92 per cent. At present 35,58,359 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 31 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 220 buildings are sealed by the BMC.
