Mulund: Upcoming MT Agarwal Super Specialty Hospital to benefit more than 12 lakh patients

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to make suburban hospitals in Mumbai super specialities. According to this, the work of MT Agarwal Hospital in Mulund has reached its final stage and it is likely that this hospital will be opened in the new year, as per the report by Loksatta. The opening of this hospital will help reduce the burden on major hospitals of the civic body. Also this hospital will generally benefit more than 12 lakh patients.


The BMC is emphasising on enabling hospitals and their health facilities to provide healthcare services to the citizens of Mumbai near their homes. Accordingly, super specialty hospitals are being started there to empower the municipal suburban hospitals. Accordingly, M.T  Agarwal hospital in Mulund is being built as a 500 bedded super specialty hospital.

The construction of the multispecialty hospital of MT Aggarwal Hospital began in 2018. When BJP MP Manoj Kotak visited the hospital on Saturday, the municipal officials informed that 70 percent of the work of the hospital has been completed. He also gave instructions to complete the remaining work of the hospital immediately. The MT Agarwal Super Specialty Hospital was expected to be completed by December 2023. However, it is likely to be completed by the beginning of 2024, said the municipal officials.


What facilities will there be in the hospital?
The building of MT Agarwal Super Specialty Hospital is 10 floors and will be built on an area of 8 lakh square feet. The building will have modern and high quality facilities like modular surgery theatre, medical oxygen, pneumatic tube. Along with this, there will be various departments like cardiac surgery, neurology, kidney medicine, ear-nose-throat department, eye department, medical department. Out of 500 beds in the hospital, 60 beds will be reserved for ICU, MICU and NICU. Similarly, CT scan and MRI facilities will also be available in the hospital.
