Mumbai records 786 new COVID-19 cases; 13 deaths

786 new COVID-19 cases were found while 13 people have lost their lives. The number of deaths on Sunday, December 6 have reduced since the past ten days.

Mumbai reported 786 new COVID-19 cases, 1652 recoveries and 13 deaths on Sunday (December 6), taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 2,86,046. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 13,132 active cases and 2,51,191 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 10,902 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 91 per cent. At present 19,88,289 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 466 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 5,428 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

Post-Diwali the cases in the financial capital have increased. However, the death rate in the city has not been impacted, which is a good sign. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) claims that the period till Mid-December will be a crucial period as there are chances of another spike. Medical experts are of the opinion that if the temperature drops and the pollution level rises, then it could also result in cases of coronavirus increasing. Considering this, the state government and BMC are taking all necessary steps to keep the cases in check.

Maharashtra reported 4,757 new COVID-19 cases, 7,486 recoveries and 40 deaths on Sunday (December 6), taking the total number of cases in the state to 18,52,266 There are 89,079 active cases in the state and 17,23,370 patients have recovered so far. The death toll is at 47,734 in Maharashtra.

In total 1,12,73,705 people have been tested in Maharashtra. The states recovery rate is 93.04 per cent.
