The CM chaired two meetings with the district collectors as well as task force members. It is said that preparedness for the third wave, and steps to curtail the number of cases in areas such as Kolhapur, rural Pune, Sangli, Satara, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Raigad and Palghar were discussed.

Furthermore, Dr Shashank Joshi, a member of the COVID task force of the state has pushed for better contact tracing, stricter curbs and containment policies in the above regions. Mumbai after being under 500 cases for 2 days, registered 664 cases on Wednesday. He stated that the second wave remains active in the state as well as in Mumbai. Therefore, the inability to follow rules may lead to a rise in cases in the second wave. The city although, did register single-digit fatalities due to the virus on Wednesday.
