Mumbai reported 823 new COVID-19 cases, 440 recoveries and five deaths on Friday, February 19, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,17,310. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 6,577 active cases and 2,98,435 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,435 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 94 per cent. At present 29,84,35 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 57 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 327 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

On Friday, February 19, Maharashtra recorded 6,112 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,87,632. Currently, there are 44,765 active cases in the state. With 2,159 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,89,963.

More than 44 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,713. While 2,24,087 persons are under home quarantine, 1,588 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.32 per cent, and 2.48 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 13,993 new cases, 10,307 recoveries and 101 deaths taking the tally up to 1,09,77,387 on Friday, February 19. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,06,78,048 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,56,212 in the country. At present, there are 1,43,127 active cases. So far, 1,07,15,204 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
