600 new COVID-19 cases were found in Mumbai taking the caseload up to 3,20,531 while three people have lost their lives.

Mumbai reported 643 new COVID-19 cases, 501 recoveries and three deaths on Tuesday, February 23, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,20,531. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 7,536 active cases and 3,00,681 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,449 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 94 per cent. At present 31,64,211 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 51 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 815 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

On Tuesday, February 23, Maharashtra recorded 6,218 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 21,12,312. Currently, there are 53,409 active cases in the state. With 5,869 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 20,05,851.

More than 51 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,857. While 2,79,288 persons are under home quarantine, 2,484 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.96 per cent, and 2.45 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 13,742 new cases, 14,037 recoveries and 104 deaths taking the tally up to 1,10,30,176 on Tuesday, February 23. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,07,26,702 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,56,567 in the country. At present, there are 1,46,907 active cases. According to the ICMR, 21,30,36,275 samples have been tested up to February 23. So far, 1,21,65,598 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
