Mumbai reported 849 new COVID-19 cases, 903 recoveries and two deaths on Tuesday, March 2, taking the total number of cases in the financial capital to 3,27,619. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, there are 9,633 active cases and 3,05,639 patients have completely recovered so far. The death toll is at 11,476 in the city. The recovery rate stands at 93 per cent. At present 33,10,190 tests have been conducted by the BMC. There are 11 contaminated zones in slums and chawls while 145 buildings are sealed by the BMC.

On Tuesday, March 2, Maharashtra recorded 7,863 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 21,69,330. Currently, there are 79,093 active cases in the state. With 6,332 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 20,36,790.

More than 54 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,238. While 3,55,784 persons are under home quarantine, 3,558 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 93.89 per cent, and 2.41 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 14,989 new cases, 13,123 recoveries and 98 deaths taking the tally up to 1,11,39,516 on Tuesday, March 2. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,08,12,044 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,57,346 in the country. At present, there are 1,70,126 active cases. So far, 1,56,20,749 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
