After announcing relaxations in regards to the local trains, now the restaurants in Mumbai too may get some relief. They had been disappointed in the relaxation announced earlier this week as the timings for dine-in remained unchanged.

According to reports by Free Press Journal, the head of task force headed by Dr Sanjay Oak said that it had no objections to extend the dine-in timings as demanded by hotels and restaurants. The report also adds that an order to this effect will be issued after the SOPs are finalised.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced that fully vaccinated people will be able to travel in local trains from August 15.

The move to extend timings for hotels and restaurants for dine-in will come as a welcome move for the industry that has been posting losses ever since the pandemic started. This is in line with the announcement that Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar made earlier this week. He had announced large-scale measures for Pune. In that broaching the topic of extension in timing, he had mentioned that the as hotels and restaurants will be allowed to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity till 10 pm on all days. In the same, he had even mentioned that shopping malls can stay open till 8 pm on all days. However, the entry in the mall is only open for people who are fully vaccinated.

The COVID-19 task force of the state has recommended that the places of worship not be opened at this juncture and also suggested that the reopening of schools that is scheduled for August 17 to be pushed back further.
