As per reports, a new COVID-19 hospital has been initiated with a capacity of 490 beds in the premises of Bush Company in Wagle Ward Committee area in Thane.

On Monday, September 14, the hospital was inaugurated by Urban Development Minister and Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde. Municipal Commissioner Dr Vipin Sharma was also present during the occasion.

Amidst the coronavirus outbreak, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has been trying to ramp up efforts in order to effectively deal with the growing number of cases of coronavirus.

Earlier, a 1,043-bed COVID-19 Center was set up at Balkum in collaboration with MCHI and MMRDA and a 1,100-bed Corona Center at Kalwa with the help of MHADA. The 490-bed hospital will now be operational on the Bush Company premises. The hospital currently has 440 beds out of which 350 beds are equipped with an oxygen system. The remaining 90 beds are the ones without the oxygen system.

On this occasion, Eknath Shinde, speaking to the media stated that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has launched the 'My Family, My Responsibility' campaign. The government, as a part of the campaign, plans to check the health status of the state’s 2.25 crore families with the help of the health department, NGOs and elected representatives. Moreover, it is touted to provide health education to the people.
