Meanwhile in September, of the total 3.51 lakh tests, 1.09 were antigen tests. As a result, this has led to a decline in the number of RT-PCR tests in the last few months.
The positivity rate per 100 persons in RT-PCR tests is 10 to 12 per cent. While the proportion rate is 3 to 4 per cent in antigen tests. Every day 12 to 19 thousand coronavirus tests are being done in Mumbai. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) administration is conducting 15,000 RT-PCR tests on a daily basis. The Antigen tests are being performed to ensure that the positivity rate is not affected.
According to officials, there is nothing wrong with the increased use of antigen tests; However, RT-PCR tests are required for an accurate diagnosis. A large number of vendors, hawkers and shopkeepers are being tested. For this, Antigen tests are beneficial as their results are quickly accessible. Similarly, efforts should be made to get the reports on RT-PCR as soon as possible.
