Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken a significant initiative to provide better primary healthcare facilities to the citizens of its jurisdiction. Recently, three new civic primary health centres and four sub-centres were opened, catering to the needs of the residents. The inauguration of these facilities was done by the esteemed Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur. Information regarding the same was published in the Free Press Journal.

New Health Centres and Sub-Centres

The PMC has established three new primary health centres at Rohingya, Palekhurd, and Bhingari. These health centres will offer a wide range of healthcare services to the residents of these areas, ensuring that they receive quality medical care and attention.

To provide medical facilities to people living in remote areas of Panvel, four new sub-centres have also been established. These sub-centres are located at Kharghar Sector 12, Koynavale, Padghe, and Tembhonde. The objective of these sub-centres is to provide prompt and efficient medical assistance to people living in far-flung areas.

Importance of the Initiative

During the inauguration ceremony, Panvel MLA Prashant Thakur emphasized the importance of providing quality healthcare services to citizens. He pointed out that the world's view regarding health services has changed after COVID-19, and people are now more aware of the importance of good health. He also applauded the PMC's initiative to establish these primary health centres and sub-centres, providing healthcare services to a large population.

Budget Allocation

Dr Ganesh Deshmukh, Panvel Municipal Corporation Commissioner, stated that a significant portion of the budget has been allocated to health services this year. He explained that there was a need to expand civil primary health centres to cater to the maximum number of people. He further added that the municipality is planning to set up nine civil primary health centres and sub-centres this year, out of which three primary health centres and four sub-centres were inaugurated on that day.

Inauguration Ceremony

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several officials, including Assistant Director of Health Services Mumbai Mandal Thane. Chakurkar, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar, Former House Leader Paresh Thakur, Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Anand Gosavi, and former corporator. The officials lauded the initiative taken by the PMC and expressed their appreciation for establishing these much-needed health centres and sub-centres.
