NMMC urges UK returnees after Nov 25 to take voluntarily check up

According to reports, the Navi Mumbai civic body has started contacting a list of passengers who returned from the UK and various countries. They will undergo the RT-PCR test to check whether they are infected with a strain of Coronavirus reported in UK.

After the new strain of coronavirus was found in the United Kingdom and other countries, as per the guidelines of the Central and State Governments, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has started a special survey of passengers arrived from England. All passengers that have arrived in Navi Mumbai from November 25 to December 23 are being monitored. The civic body has also issued two toll-free numbers that the UK and countries returnee can contact the civic health department round the clock.

According to reports, the Navi Mumbai civic body has started contacting a list of passengers who returned from the UK and various countries. They will undergo the RT-PCR test to check whether they are infected with a strain of Coronavirus reported in the UK, said, officials.

The civic body officials have also urged those returnee passengers to voluntarily contact the nearest health centre/health department headquarters or call toll free number 18002222309/1800222319. RT-PCR testing facility has been conducted for these persons at MGM Hospital, Sector 30, Sanpada, Vashi.

Till the test reports come, they will be in institution isolation, and thereafter as per the report, they will be sent home or remain in the institution isolation. If any passenger is tested positive for COVID-19, the civic body will conduct a contact tracing to check.

Although the number of daily corona infections has been declining over the last few days, citizens need to be careful and adhere to the three-pronged approach to corona prevention: regular use of masks, social distantness and frequent hand washing. NMMC Commissioner Abhijeet Bangar has appealed all the citizens to take care of their own health and the health of others by maintaining a "COVID Appropriate Behaviour".
