As per reports, Maharashtra has arrived at a 16 per cent coronavirus positivity rate among healthcare workers which includes medical practitioners, doctors, nurses, staffers and hospital cleaners.

This happens to be the second-highest in the country, right after Telangana at 18 per cent.

According to Indian Express, on Thursday, September 3, the Centre pulled up states with a high positivity rate of the coronavirus among healthcare workers and asked them to evaluate the situation. The other states and Union Territories with a high COVID-19 positivity rate are Delhi at 14 per cent, Karnataka at 13 per cent, Puducherry at 12 per cent and Punjab at 11 per cent.

Meanwhile, 18,105 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Maharashtra taking the COVID-19 tally in the state to 8,43,844.

On the other hand, the number of recovered patients rose by 13,988 in the same period, taking the aggregate of recovered cases to 6,12,484. The recovery rate in the state now stands at 72.58 per cent, as against the national average of 77.09 per cent.

Moreover, at the moment, 14,27,316 people are under home quarantine and 36,745 people in institutional quarantine. Out of 43,72,697 laboratory samples, 8,43,844 have been tested positive (19.29 per cent) for the novel coronavirus till date.
