Private establishments can now get COVID-19 test for their staff
SHARES

The state has now given a nod to the private establishment for testing their staff for coronavirus. However, there are a few conditions that have to be adhered to.

According to the notification given by the state, a minimum of 50 employees will have to be tested. Before getting someone tested an application has to be submitted seeking permission from the civic chief or the district collector which should mention the details of the test that has to be done. In case the firm has zeroed in on a lab of their choice for these tests, then details of the lab also have to be included in the application.

The Thane civic body has given permission to some private labs to start the testing for coronavirus. As per them, this will lead to an increase in the number of testing which currently stands at 900-1200 tests on a daily basis.

Earlier the authorities had also relaxed the testing norms of the coronavirus for Mumbaikars. Starting today (July 7), people in Mumbai who want to get a test done don't need to get a prescription from the doctor in order to get themselves tested. Earlier they had offered the same provision for people above the age of 70 and now it has been offered to all Mumbai citizens. It is expected that these relaxations will not just drive more tests but also help arrest more cases and that would further help break the chain of spread.

Currently, the total number of cases in Maharashtra stands at 2,11,987 out of which 1,15,262 patients have been cured. The total number of active cases are at 87,681
