Pune reported 774 new COVID-19 cases, 427 recoveries and two deaths on Sunday, February 28, taking the total number of cases up to 2,02,702. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 4,919 active cases while 1,92,928 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is 4,855.

 As many as 7,473 tests were conducted taking the total count to 11,43,846.

On Sunday, February 28, Maharashtra recorded 8,293 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 21,55,070. Currently, there are 77,008 active cases in the state. With 3,753 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 20,24,704.

More than 62 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,154. While 3,35,492 persons are under home quarantine, 3,332 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 93.95 per cent, and 2.42 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 15,510 new cases, 11,288 recoveries and 106 deaths taking the tally up to 1,10,96,731 on Sunday, February 28. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,07,86,457 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,57,157 in the country. At present, there are 1,68,627 active cases. So far, 1,43,01,266 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
