Pune records over 400 new COVID-19 cases on February 17

428 new COVID-19 cases were found in Pune taking the caseload up to 1,95,924 while 262 people have completely recovered and discharged from the hospital.

Pune reported 428 new COVID-19 cases, 262 recoveries and four deaths on Wednesday, February 17, taking the total number of cases up to 1,95,924. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 1,881 active cases while 1,89,237 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is at 4,806.

 As many as 4,304 tests were conducted taking the total count to 10,81,115.

On Wednesday, February 17, Maharashtra recorded 4,878 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,52,905. Currently, there are 38,013 active cases in the state. With 3,853 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,85,261.

More than 40 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 51,631. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.62 per cent, and 2.49 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 12,881 new cases, 11,987 recoveries and 101 deaths taking the tally up to 1,09,50,201 on Wednesday, February 17. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,06,56,845 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,56,014 in the country. At present, there are 1,37,342 active cases. According to the ICMR, 20,97,03,791 samples have been tested up to February 17. So far, 94,22,228 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
