Pune reported 208 new COVID-19 cases, 229 recoveries and three deaths on Sunday, January 24 taking the total number of cases up to 1,84,682. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 2,051 active cases while 1,77,893 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is at 4,738.

On Sunday, December 24, Maharashtra recorded 2,752 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,09,106. Currently, there are 44,831 active cases in the state. With 1,743 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,12,264.

More than 45 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 50,785. While 2,08,993 persons are under home quarantine, 2,309 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.18 per cent, and 2.53 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 13,203 new cases, 13,298 recoveries and 131 deaths taking the tally up to 1,06,67,736 on Sunday, January 24. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,03,30,084 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,53,470 in the country. At present, there are 1,84,182 active cases. According to the ICMR, 19,23,67,117 samples have been tested up to January 24. So far, 16,15,504 health care workers have been vaccinated in the country.
