Pune reported 225 new COVID-19 cases, 258 recoveries and three deaths on Tuesday, January 26 taking the total number of cases up to 185,005. According to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), there are 1,989 active cases while 178,274 patients have recovered so far. The death toll in Pune is at 4,742.

On Tuesday, January 26, as many as 2,402 tests were conducted taking the total count to 10,08,636.

On Tuesday, January 26, Maharashtra recorded 2,405 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 20,13,353. Currently, there are 43,811 active cases in the state. With 2,106 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 19,17,450.

More than 47 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 50,862. While 1,84,944 persons are under home quarantine, 2,613 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 95.24 per cent, and 2.53 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 12,689 new cases, 13,320 recoveries and 137 deaths taking the tally up to 1,06,89,527 on Tuesday, January 26. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,03,59,305 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,53,724 in the country. At present, there are 1,76,498 active cases. According to the ICMR, 19,36,13,120 samples have been tested up to January 26. So far, 20,29,480 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in the country.
