On Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced that it would be prolonging the covid vaccination drive for those travelling abroad from three days a week to six days a week.

This brings in a great sense of respite for those travelling abroad for higher education, work or participants of the contingent for the Tokyo Olympics. Since they have the opportunity to get themselves vaccinated amongst the six days in the week. The said extension will remain in action till August 31, announced the authorities.

Earlier, the eligible individuals could visit any of the seven designated vaccination centres in the city from Monday to Wednesday. With the recent development, they will now be able to do so from Monday to Saturday.

For students travelling abroad for higher education, the BMC reduced the gap between the two doses of the Covishield vaccine from 84 days to 28 days.

On July 13 2021, total positive patients were 441, whilst the total number of positive patients recovered and discharged stood at 600. Total covid deaths, on the other hand, were 8, whilst the total number of tests done were 30100. Similarly, the recovery rate of the Mumbai district is at 96% now and the doubling rate stands at 925 days.
