The CT scan machine at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Nair Hospital has been down for the past several months. Therefore, the patients have to undergo this test in private CT Scan centres, so they have to bear the financial burden. But now the wait for Nair Hospital patients will end soon. The new CT scan machine will be started in Nair Hospital by the end of September.

Every day, approximately 3-4 thousand patients come for treatment in the outpatient department of Nair Hospital of the BMC. Some of these patients are advised by the doctor to undergo a CT scan at private centres. However, since the CT scan machine in the hospital has been closed for several months, doctors are advising patients to get this test done in other municipal hospitals or private CT scan centres. However, as there is a waiting list of two to three months in other hospitals of the Municipal Corporation, the patients have to undergo the CT scan test at a private centre. As a result, patients face financial hardship.
