The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to increase the number of vaccination centres in its 24 divisional wards in the city. Accordingly, the municipal administration would start three new vaccination centres in each ward.

The COVID-19 vaccination campaign began again on Tuesday, January 19, in the state including Mumbai after it was cancelled for two days due to a technical glitch in Co-Win app on the first day of vaccination in Mumbai. There will be a straight four-day vaccination program in Mumbai till Saturday, January 22. The BMC aims to vaccinate 4,000 people every day in the Municipal Corporation area.

Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that three vaccination centres will be started in each ward. With this, a total of 72 centres will be set up in 24 wards. These centres will be for the second and third phase of vaccination. For which, more than 10,000 employees are being trained in vaccination.

In the first phase, the process of vaccinating 1.25 lakh health workers has started in Mumbai. In the second phase, front line employees and in the third phase, citizens below 50 years of age will be vaccinated. Medical officials said that the municipal administration is already increasing the number of vaccination centres for the second and third phase.
