A two-year-old girl underwent cataract surgery successfully at the Thane District General Hospital here. The girl's eyes have been operated by a laser machine and she has been given sight through this surgery. A two-year-old girl living in Igatpuri area of Nashik could not see with both eyes. She felt only the sensation of light. Her eye examination revealed congenital cataracts. Later, she was admitted to Thane District General Hospital. A physical examination was performed prior to her cataract surgery. The girl was treated in the hospital for a week.

Recently her eyes were operated on by a laser machine. The two-year-old girl had cataracts in both eyes, making the surgery challenging. This surgery was performed by the district surgeon Dr. Kailas Pawar and Additional District Surgeon conducted under the guidance of Dr Dheeraj Mahangde. Anesthesiologist Dr. Ophthalmologist Dr. Priyanka Mahangde informed that the cataract surgery of her eyes was done with the help of Dr. Rupali Yadav. 

“At a young age, the girl had cataracts in both eyes and could only sense light. It was challenging to put her under anaesthesia and then do the surgery. But the doctors and staff of the eye department successfully completed this challenge. Also, all the doctors and staff strive to serve the patients with sincerity,” said Dr. Kailas Pawar, District Surgeon, Thane.
