Every year on July 11, World Population Day is observed. The idea behind observing this day is to draw focus on population issues and family planning. This year, this day is observed amidst the global coronavirus crisis, which is said to have a significant impact on the global population. The deadly virus has infected more than 12 million people worldwide and caused over 5 lakh deaths.
This year, the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), has called attention to the effort needed to secure the health and human rights of women and girls amid the global pandemic.
