Some of the roads inside Aarey Colony are riddled with potholes and a new report mentions that the Public Works Department is planning to fix them prior to the monsoon season this year. The agency has sent out tenders valued at ₹50 lakh to fix the roads between Unit 1 and Unit 8 as well as roads between Unit 25 to 32.

“We don't really understand why only certain roads will be repaired despite the fact that the condition of our roads is pathetic. If anyone visits the roads in these areas, they might wonder if there was any road,” a resident of Unit 15 said to mid-day.

Another resident from Aarey pitched the idea of building concrete roads in the area so that they don’t develop potholes every year. In addition to fixing the potholes, the Public Works Department is also going to repair government staff quarters and dairy structures inside Aarey.

Locals in the region have said that roads need to be relaid in order to solve this issue, though authorities are yet to decide on this. Aarey’s main road is managed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and connects Goregaon with Marol and Powai.
