Local residents living near the coastal locations of the proposed Versova-Bandra Sea Link have stated that the project will affect the pedestrians as one of the areas under construction would be near the sea-facing promenade near Carter Road's Otters Club.

Raising issues regarding the same, the residents approached the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and stated that besides the above-mentioned area, the construction work will also be held near the Railway Colony in the locality which will affect the promenade affecting the public there. They have also stated that the project could lead to heavy traffic near the club, and these concerns need to be addressed during the project work.

Acting upon the same, Congress Corporator Arif Zakaria wrote to Minister Eknath Shinde informing him about the concerns raised by the public regarding the project work near the  Carter Road promenade, further adding that the officials have not declared the points of exit and entry for the project in this phase. he emphasised that this decision would be significant for the waiting time pedestrians will have to spend; and will inturn affect senior citizens and children too.

Zakaria added that if these concerns are not addressed, the people will not be able to use the promenade, as their regular activity of walking would be affected.  Besides the locals, the Bandra West Residents Association (BWRA) has also mentioned that the project work should be planned keeping the pedestrian benefits in mind. Furthermore, the authorities have asked the MSRDC to consider a public hearing for the same, which will help them understand the problems and implement the suggestions if needed.

Responding to the query, a senior official from MSRDC has mentioned the officials will ensure no inconvenience in the project as the plan has been prepared keeping the access and regular walking activity in mind.
