The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)'s bridge department will soon be appointing a consultant for cost estimation and drafting a design for a new flyover connecting the Senapati Bapat Marg (Tulsi Pipe Road) to the Western Express Highway (WEH).

The bridge was planned long back; however, the project never took off due to several reasons. This new flyover will help the motorists coming from Lower Parel and Dadar via Mahim directly head to WEH. The motorists have to witness heavy traffic on the Tulsi Pipe Road and then take the narrow Mori Road. They will then have to connect to SV road between Mahim and Bandra before reaching the highway.

With this, now the motorists will not have to make any detours which used to cause a delay for about 20 minutes as the new flyover will cut down the travel time.

The civic official has said that the commuters going towards Bandra Reclamation or Sea Link from Mahim station can use the bridge. However, the project will require environmental clearances from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority and State Expert Appraisal Committee.

The plan is still in its beginning stage, but a rough design is drafted, and there will be two exits on the northern and southern sides. Though, the consultant will design it technically, evaluate the cost, and make sure there is a minimum impact on the environment.
