Mumbai’s A-Ward which covers the Fort area has been undertaking efforts to make sure the streets display the rich history and architecture of the region. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now advised the traffic department to enhance the beauty of the junctions at Fort while also removing unappealing aspects.

Keeping this in mind, the Department of Road Traffic has proposed the installation of old and new photographs of the Fort region at every junction in the region. This will be supplemented with interesting facts and trivia pertaining to the area. The BMC will reportedly use old photos of Fort and its junctions from its archives.

“We will soon list out the junctions where new signage and boards will be installed, reflecting the heritage value of the Fort area. We want to transform all the junctions in this area, but we will start with a few initially,” an official from the Traffic Department said.

Officials said that the display boards in the region will be somewhat similar to the boards that were installed near Mahalaxmi Temple.

In places like Hutatma Chowk and Horniman Circle, officials will install old and new pictures on boards along with a brief explainer on the history of the two iconic junctions.
