Under the Mumbai beautification project, Gorai Jetty and Seashore will also be beautified. There will be lighting in the jetty and beach area and the municipality is going to spend INR 2.69 cr for it.


Currently beautification works are going on in Mumbai. Under that, the Gorai area adjacent to Borivali in the western suburbs will also be beautified. Close to Mumbai, this area is somewhat underdeveloped. Even basic facilities are not available in this area. However, this area will also be beautified under the beautification project. R central department has decided the contractor for the same by carrying out the tender process. INR 2.69 cr will be spent for this work. The defect liability period for this work is two years.


Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal had announced the Mumbai beautification project in September 2022. Under this project, works such as cleaning, improvement, beautifying greenery, and attractive lighting will be done in public places like roads, bridges, footpaths, traffic islands, beaches, parks etc. 16 different types of works are going to be done under this beautification. Works such as facility toilets, Miyawaki tree planting, beautification of Gateway of India area, beautification of traffic islands will be done.

In this project, 500 works have been undertaken in the first phase and 320 in the second phase and a total of 1,077 works have been undertaken. Out of which 613 works have been completed i.e. 50 percent works have been completed. The remaining works are in progress and they should also be completed as per the planned schedule especially before the onset of monsoon, the works related to electric lighting should be completed in the coming month, the Municipal Commissioner had instructed the officials in the recent review meeting.
