It will now be possible to have a spectacular birds-eye view of Marine Drive from the top of a multi-level viewing gallery in Malabar Hill constructed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) hydraulic department.
The 2,000 sq. ft. gallery will be a three-storey structure and can suffice to accommodate 250 people up to the second floor. The floors will be guarded by iron railings to ensure complete safety. It will also have a cafeteria for visitors.
Officials claim that the gallery will be the first-of-a-kind in Mumbai. The estimated cost BMC will be spending on the construction for the viewing gallery is INR 8 crores.
The department is planning to construct a water control room on one of the two plots that the Hydraulic Department has in Malabar Hill after the gallery is completed.
