The operation and maintenance of the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro 3 line is likely to be taken over by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). Tenders for Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) have been opened recently. Tenders have been submitted by DMRC and France-based company Keolis, and since DMRC's bid is the lowest, it is likely that DMRC will get the contract.

The MMRC is working on a 33.5 km metro line and it is expected to be completed by now. But due to many reasons the project could not be completed yet. But now MMRC has decided to start the first phase from Seepz to BKC by December 2023. MMRC plans to start the rest of the second phase in June 2024. So now the MMRC has accelerated all kinds of work. As part of that, it has now been decided to complete the process of appointing a company to operate and maintain Metro 3.

According to this decision, MMRC had issued tenders for this on October 22, 2022. Accordingly, two companies namely DMRC and Keolis submitted tenders. Now the financial tender has been opened and DMRC has placed the lowest bid. So now DMRC is likely to get this contract. It is now almost certain that the first subway metro line in Mumbai will be operated by DMRC. Meanwhile, the contractor will be responsible for operation and maintenance of Metro 3 for 10 years.
