The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to repair the 49-year-old reservoir at Ghatkopar. The BMC is going to spend INR 10 crores for this work. It is believed that this work will be completed in one and a half years.

The civic body has decided to carry out structural repairs of the reservoir that supplies water to the Ghatkopar area. This reservoir was built in 1973 and is divided into two chambers. Its total water storage capacity is 11.35 million litres.

The BMC has conducted a structural inspection of this reservoir and the report says that extensive structural repairs are needed in the reservoir. Therefore, the water supply department has taken up these works.

The works to be undertaken are to stop the leakage from the reservoir, cement concreting the wall of the reservoir, repair the pillars and steps inside the reservoir. In total, INR 9.53 crore will be spent for this work.
