Mumbai – The Girgaum residents have become aggressive due to the Metro-3 project as Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRC) has started the actual work in the name of geo-technical tests. Protesting against this, they stopped the work by blackening the barricades on Thursday. They also claimed that the concerned authorities started Metro-3 work by deceiving the project affected persons. Till the ordinance of rehabilitation of PAPs is not issued, any kind of work in this regard will not be allowed, warned Shiv Sena’s Pandurang Sakpal. Meanwhile, MMRC managing director Ashwini Bhide said that rehabilitation of Girgaum residents will take place as per their demands. The rehab plan has been sent to the state government for sanction and once it is okayed, Girgaum residents will be rehabilitated, she added. Gaurav Sagvekar, president of ‘Aamhi Girgaumkar’ organization, criticised the MMRC and has sent a memorandum of 21 demands to the MMRC.
