A six-lane road overbridge (RoB) will be constructed between the Reay Road and Dockyard railway stations by the Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (MRIDC). It is said that this new RoB will be 12 metres wide on both sides.
This will be in addition to the construction and reconstruction of existing bridges including the Tilak Bridge between Dadar and Matunga stations, as well as RoBs at Byculla, Currey Road, Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, and Ghatkopar.
In total, the MRIDC will undertake construction and reconstruction of one road underbridge (RuB) and 11 RoBs. It is said that the MRIDC will also undertake the construction of a RuB at the Matunga Road Railway Station.

Additionally, the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the MRIDCL for the construction of the aforementioned bridges and related infrastructure.
There are plenty of road overbridges within the metropolitan area that are in a dilapidated condition, making it dangerous for the public to use. However, the civic authorities have already demolished a few of them, while undertaking reconstruction works on the rest.
Fortunately, most of the foot traffic has been halted for the past few months due to the coronavirus lockdowns across Maharashtra, particularly in key areas of Mumbai. It’s worth noting that the lockdowns have been lifted in some parts of the city and railways have begun operating on some level. Necessary precautions are to be followed, like wearing of masks or face coverings and avoiding a gathering of people.
