As the cases of coronavirus are rising across the country, in order to contain the spread of the contagious disease, people have been asked to cover their faces and mouth with masks, use sanitizers to disinfect themselves and wear gloves. To ensure that people are not running out of either of these safety essentials, vending machines have been installed in several places which are providing the medical protection kit - masks, sanitizers and gloves.

These essentials are now made available at the Mumbai railway station. The mask and sanitizer vending machine has been installed at the Dadar Railway Station. This machine works just like any other vending machine. In order to receive an item, people have to put in the money in the machine and get the item by entering the code of the item you want. Moreover, there are different types of masks available in this machine. Face masks ranging from one-time masks to N95 masks are said to be available. Apart from this, citizens can also get hand sanitizers for ₹50 to ₹100. Furthermore, gloves are being available at reasonable prices as well.

Even though at present this vending machine has been installed only at the Dadar Central Railway Station, similar vending machines will be set up at other stations soon. The local trains happen to be the lifeline of Mumbai as the maximum number of people commute by the trains in the city, however, right now only people working in essential services and some special passenger trains are operating. The railways have also installed health ATMs wherein one can get their medical check-up done at a very nominal rate.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra, on Thursday, July 23, recorded 9,895 fresh cases of the coronavirus, propelling the state's COVID-19 tally to 3,47,502. Currently, there are 1,40,092 active cases in the state. With 6,484 COVID-19 patients being discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 1,94,253.
