The traffic congestion at Chheda Nagar Junction was a hindrance to the vehicles coming from the Eastern Freeway. Therefore, MMRDA has taken up the 'Chheda Nagar Traffic Improvement Project'. Under this project, three flyovers and one subway are being constructed in Chheda Nagar. The first of these three-lane bridges is 680 meters long and connects Sion and Thane. The second two-lane flyover is 1,235 meters long and will be directly connected to Thane from Mankhurd Road.

This flyover has been added to the Santacruz to Chembur road project and this bridge is helping to ease traffic congestion in Chheda Nagar. The first phase of the 518 m long and 37.5 m wide subway along with the Chheda Nagar flyover has also been completed and is in service.

Now, the work of Mankhurd to Thane flyover is in its final stage and an important phase of this work was completed on Monday, January 16.
