As per reports, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authorities have asked for 378 coaches, and it is said that they will be environment friendly and will arrive from December 2020.

Mumbai Metro is one of the projects this city is waiting for, as it connects the ends of the Mumbai and is said to be a blessing to many commuters. While the construction was being done swiftly earlier this year, the unexpected coronavirus pandemic had put the project on a halt. However, as per reports, the construction of Mumbai Metro has gained momentum once again.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authorities have said that 378 coaches for this metro will arrive by April 2021. Officials have started working on the Metro lines and it is expected to get back to the timelines as planned. In particular, work on Metro-2 and Metro-7 is in full swing and according to the information received, six coaches will arrive around December 11, the authority said.

BEML has been selected for the construction of Metro on Metro Lines 2A, 2B and 7, and the coaches for these lines are expected to arrive in Mumbai from December 2020; and it is said that the coaches will be environmentally friendly. Moreover, MMRDA has awarded the rolling stock contract to Bharat Earth Movers in Bangalore.

As per reports, tenders were issued last week to bring Metro coaches from Bangalore to Mumbai, and based on the plan, a total of 378 coaches will arrive in different stages. The first set of coaches will be for Metro-6 and arrive by December 11, 2020, whereas the coaches for Metro-2 Dahisar and Metro-7 Dahisar East-Andheri East routes are expected to be in the months thereafter.
