To reduce the growing traffic congestion in the Thane–Mira Bhayandar area, the Maharashtra government has decided to accelerate the Metro 10 project from Gaimukh Retibandar to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk (Ghodbunder).

Following the crucial connectivity from Kashigaon to Dahisar East, the tender process for this advanced 9.7 km metro project from Gaimukh to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk will commence next week.

This decision was taken in a meeting of MMRDA under the guidance of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

It is expected to strengthen east west connectivity and reduce pressure on one of the region’s busiest corridors.

The Dahisar-Kashigaon route will be extended up to Gaimukh. The target has been set to complete this project by 2029. Considering the severe traffic congestion on Ghodbunder Road, a decision has been made to widen the 30-meter-wide road to 60 meters. The acquisition of necessary land for the widening, spanning approximately 5.5 to 6 kilometers between Gaimukh and Kashigaon, will be carried out through MMRDA.

Alongside this, the tender process for various road projects in the limits of Thane and Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporations will soon commence. There is an intention to implement pod taxi projects on a PPP basis in Thane, Mira Bhayandar, and Navi Mumbai, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) to be completed within the next six months.

Additionally, instructions have been issued to complete the widening works on Ghodbunder Road before the monsoon season. Orders have also been given to complete the relocation of MSEDCL poles within the next three months.
