Mumbai – The MHADA is not behind in taking benefit of the currency exchange scheme of the Central government. The housing agency has started accepting old currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 for due service tax from people. MHADA vice president Sambhaji Zende, while talking to Mumbai Live, informed, “The service tax collection will be on even on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. MHADA rent collectors are going to societies to collect service tax. They are accepting old currency notes as tax payment and societies are giving a good response to them. The drive will be on till 12 pm on Monday.” He also said, “Service tax worth crores of rupees is due from the MHADA housing societies. Residents had not responded to various other schemes of MHADA but now societies are responding positively. We expect a huge inflow of money in form of service tax. The total of collected amount will be known only on Tuesday.”
