Mumbai: MHADA to hold lottery for over 3,000 affordable homes in Goregaon

The Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (MHADA) will hold a lottery for over 3,000 new houses in next year in Mumbai. The last lottery held by MHADA in Mumbai was in 2018.

The Maharashtra Housing Area Development Authority (MHADA) will hold a lottery for over 3,000 new houses in Mumbai after four years.

The lottery for 3,015 houses in Pahadi area of Goregaon will be held in early 2023, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, announced on Monday, January 10.

The last lottery held by MHADA in Mumbai was in 2018. Awhad said that of the total 3,015 houses, 1,947 houses will be reserved for the economically weaker sections. Of the remaining lot, 736 will be for low-income groups (LIG), 227 for middle-income groups and 105 for high-income groups.

A one-room kitchen set-up will cost around INR 25 lakhs with approximate area of 300 sq ft.

Apart from this, houses in Antop Hill, Kannamwarnagar and South Mumbai will also be included in the lottery.

According to the Integrated Development Control and Promotion Regulations implemented in the state, developers will no longer be allowed to construct religious places in the facility area of housing projects. It is mandatory to use the facility area only for construction of playgrounds, gardens, schools, hospitals, firefighting and project affected houses.

Moreover, provision has been made that schools and other facilities should be made available in the area of facilities. Earlier, it was demanded that construction of religious places should be allowed.
